Description
An upclose look at an African elephant taking a dust baths. One of my earlist photos, I wanted to show upclose how an elephant takes a dust bath and how beautiful it looks frozen in time. Elephants take dust baths primarily to protect their sensitive skin from sun damage, insect bites, and parasites. The dust acts as a natural sunscreen and insect repellent, helps regulate body temperature, and aids in soothing skin irritations or injuries.
