HMV was a music label I grew up with. All the music I heard as a child was from HMV. Eventually, the brand ceased to exist in India. It remained a part of some good memories. Only later in life did I understand why the dog was peering into the gramophone. It was His Master’s Voice!
I love London. It’s my favorite city. I have travelled and seen a few cities, but nothing hits home as London does. Oxford Street is my favorite, and I enjoy taking long walks along the street. On one of the early such walks, I came upon the HMV store. I was surprised, had my camera with me, and took a shot. It has since become one of my favorite photos, with a dash of nostalgia.
St Paul’s Cathedral is one of London’s most iconic landmarks, known for its massive dome that has dominated the city’s skyline for over 250 years. Designed by Sir Christopher Wren in the English Baroque style, it was rebuilt between 1675 and 1710 following the destruction of the original medieval cathedral in the Great Fire of London in 1666.
I was going for a business lunch in a building near the cathedral and saw this magnificent view of the dome. Luckily, I had my camera with me, yes, I carried/carry my camera to business lunches and got this photo. A typical rainy day in London, and the great view needed to be registered.
Canary Wharf is a whole lot of office buildings. My cousin rented an apartment nearby, and this was the view from that apartment. I love long exposure shots, and it was after 350 photos that I managed to get one with all the car and train lights in there.
London is a city that never fails to impress!
